Lot Of 8 Pieces Antique Identified Flatware W/raised Grape Clusters For Sale

Lot Of 8 Pieces Antique Identified Flatware W/raised Grape Clusters

This is a lot of eight antique pieces of flatware, all with raised grapes on them. (Although... I'm just now noticing that the last piece in this lot - see photo below - just shows a grape leaf on the handle). The lot consists five knives, a long-handled seafood fork, a very rare crimped gravy ladle with two matching spouts on either side of the bowl, and an incredibly decorative and ornate crimped and scalloped sugar spoon. The flatware dates from 1906 to 1913, and overall condition is EXCELLENT.

See Detailed Descriptions and Close-Up Photos Below

Note: The discoloration on the COLIGNY knife - the last piece on the right - is just the result of my camera picking up some orange-y shadows from my garish orange-colored patio. There really is no discoloration on the knife.

More Close-up Photos Below

Included in this lot is ... (see photo above, from left):

  • The first three pieces are in the MUSCATEL aka VINEYARD pattern Featured are two matching master butter knives with twisted handles (each just over 7⅛" long) - and - a decorative seafood fork (6⅛" long) . Each piece is signed ELGIN on the underside, although this pattern was most often manufactured by W.H. ROGERS. All three pieces date back to 1910.

  • The next two pieces are in the very decorative MOSELLE pattern. You see a hollow-handled youth knife with a rounded handle (7¼" long) - and - a VERY ornate and decorative crimped and scalloped sugar or berry spoon (6" long). Both pieces were manufactured by the AMERICAN SILVER CO. and date back to 1906. The sugar/berry spoon is particularly decorative, and the pattern in the bowl looks as though it was "punched out" from the underside (see last photo below). Also, this is a very collectible pattern of flatware, according to my silverware books and other sources.

  • The next two pieces are in the GRAPE aka VINEYARD pattern. Included is a rare gravy ladle with crimped spouts on either side of the bowl (5⅞" long) - and - a master butter knife (7¼" long). This flatware dates back to 1906 and was manufactured by the LAKESIDE company. This also is a very popularly collected flatware pattern, according to my silverware books and other sources.

  • The last piece, the far right, is a one-piece, all silver plated small knife with a rounded French blade. I'm not certain but I believe this also is a youth knife. The pattern name is COLIGNY and it was manufactured by the INDEPENDENCE SILVER CO. It measures 7¼" long and dates back to 1913. Interestingly, the signature on the knife blade says EasterN SILVER CO.

As indicated in the first paragraph above, these eight pieces of grape flatware are in excellent vintage condition. There's NO corrosion, NO pitting, NO heel marks, and virtually NO missing silver - which is remarkable for such old pieces of silver. There's only gentle wear and usage marks. (Remember, this flatware is 100+ years old)! Each piece shines very brightly, as illustrated in the photos above and below. You can place this flatware on your table as soon as you remove it from it's wrappings.
