Louis Icart Lithograph Zest,Lady Russian Wolfhounds Dogwood Trail AntiquesVintage Louis Icart Lithograph Zest,Lady Russian Wolfhounds Beautifully illustrated original vintage print that portraits a lovely woman attempting to throw a ball to her four Russian Wolfhound dogs. The print uses minimal colors that plays off each other. You have flesh tones and reds against the soft blues, grays, and blacks. The woman in short bobbed red wavy hair, as you can see the pink tongue on the dog on the farthest right. This is a vintage lithograph print illustration SIGNED by the renowned ARTIST: LOUIS ICART, in the lower right hand corner, slightly above the wood frame.Louis Justin Laurent Icart (1888 - 1950)
Louis Justin Laurent Icart was born in Toulouse in 1890 and died in Paris in 1950. He lived in New York City in the 1920s, where he became known for his Art-Deco color etchings of glamourous women. He was first son of Jean and Elisabeth Icart and was officially named Louis Justin Laurent Icart. The use of his initials L.I. would be sufficient in this household. Therefore, from the moment of his birth he was dubbed 'Helli'. EXCELLENT, UNFADED, PRISTENE CONDITION. Slight age toning on the outside border and on the back of print. Lithograph measures 16 inches wide by 21 inches high. Believe this print dates approx. 1930's-1940's. This illustration is what is called an issued Printers Proof. What they produced first before there initial run. Printers proofs would have marks of a cross in the margins. Is housed in its old antique frame that on the outer and inner border is a plain smooth design, then in the center a nice inner lace and tiny flowers made gesso material . In great condition of the gesso, just one lace piece missing at the bottom of the frame. Maintains its Old Original Wavy Antique Glass. The frame is one of the nicer ones we have seen for its age. Does have some minor scratches and bumps in the wood frame. Still displays nicely. Resprayed the frame with a nice gold coloring. Frame is Very Heavy. Overall measures 18-5/8 inches wide by 23-3/4 inches high, about 1-1/2 inch wide frame. We cleaned up the glass for you and replaced the older cardboard backer.
