Louis Vuitton Trunk recently acquired.
My estimate on a date would be early 1870s. The label makes reference to two events in 1867 and 1868.
The trunk canvas color is a green gray. The paint or finish on the canvas does not show any discontinuity even at the edgesand lead me to estimate that the finish is original to the trunk.
The lid is lightly rounded which is also rare for Louis Vuitton.
I am no expert on trunks. Many LVsites referenceearlycustom and special made trunks, this is what Iestimate this trunk is a good representation of.
Condition is aspictured. Still feels solid andshows well. Note the hard water spot on the lid and the back right hinge does not seem to be functioning as it should.
