Lovely 1940s Eversharp Skyline Deco Fountain Pen, 14k Nib, New Sac:
This is the iconic Wahl Eversharp Skyline fountain pen which Wahl introduced in 1941. Wahl hired noted industrial designer, Henry Dreyfuss, to make a pen that would echo the sweeping linesofhis design for the streamlined 20th Century locomotive. A public domain photo of the well known 1938 locomotive is the last photo on this listing.
This is a demi model, slightly smaller, designed for a vest pocket, and a size which fits many modern shirt pockets as well. The striated cap was also patented by Dreyfuss and it is transparent, with the colour applied to the transparent underside of the cap. This cap has one gold coloured band and it is in really nice shape, showing only wear commensurate with the pen's age.
Although I have replaced the sac, I did not polish the nib (which, being 14k gold should clean up nicely if desired). I have also left anyother potential cosmetics to the discretionof the newowner. It really doesn't need anything. The pen shouldwrite well as it is.
The nib has a fine point and is relatively firm.Skylines make great daily writing pens, and the nibs are among the nicest vintage nibs that there are.
Great for the collector and/or someone who wants a bold anddistinctive writing instrument, this pen projectsa stylistic statement that leaves many more modern fountain pens behind. It's ready to serve its new owner for another 80 years. Here's achance to own a beautiful working example of one of the great iconic American fountain pens which are fast disappearing from the world.
