Lovely Antique Edwardian Solid Silver Pig Pin Cushion Hallmarked Birmingham 1907 For Sale
BEAUTIFUL SOLID SILVER PIG PIN CUSHION FROM THE EDWARDIAN ERA HALLMARKED BIRMINGHAM 1907 BY SYDNEY & CO – A VERY SWEET LITTLE PIGGY!
A beautifully detailed, solid silver pin cushion in the shape of a pig, with a determined look on his face and a sweet little curly tail! It dates from the mid-Edwardian era, in 1907. This is a fairly rare, highly collectable and sought after silver pin cushion from this maker. It would have been expensive to purchase when it was new. The photos do not do it justiceand please note thatmarks are due to reflections and not dents.
Most noticeably, all the hallmarks are very clear – often on these pieces they are too rubbed through use to distinguish. The pig still has his full curly tail and both ears. It also has its original pin cushion, worn commensurate with age but completely intact, which is fairly rare and makes it certainly one for the collector.
APPROXIMATE From tail to snout, it is 5cm in length; 2.2cm in height (excluding pin cushion) and 1.5cm in width. It weighs 15g.
The pin cushion is the original and is worn commensurate with its age but still completely intact. For the collector, you will probably want to leave it as it is - to have this pin cushion of over 100 years old, in this condition is quite rare in the first place.
This is the sweetest little pin cushion in the shape of a pig from 1907. A highly sought after and collectable piece of silver. If you collect silver, pig pieces, or novelty pin cushions you will not want to miss this lovely little piggy!
