Lovely Pair Of Georgian Hallmark Silver Gilt Salt Cellars Chawner + Eames 1796:
A wonderful pair of gilt interior, solid silver Georgian salt cellars.
Hallmarked for 1796, they are made by Henry Chawner and John Eames. They are hallmarked for London, and bear the George III duty mark.
A wonderful pair of salt cellars in classic Georgian design, with gilt interiors, atop a pedestal foot.
Condition is generally very good considering they are 220+ years of age. One has a couple of small fingernail dents to the body and one has a very small split to the interior part of the bowl, but not that would let any salt out. This is visible in the right hand bowl at the bottom in the image with both bowls. In very good condition otherwise. Both stand firm and there is no lean.
Weight combined = 117 grams approx.
Height = 5.3 cm approx
Length across top = approx 10.1 cmAn excellent pair of salts for a Georgian silver collection, by makers of distinction.
