Lovely all bisque doll, 9", probably German.Circa 1910-1920Beautiful face with glass eyes. Feet are wearing boots, but black stockings are also included. With some TLC by a doll doctor (hair, clothes, limbs), she will be beautiful again. On Jun-09-13 at 15:32:50 PDT, seller added the following information:
After receiving a number of messages from interested e bay members, I have examined this doll more closely with a magnifying glass. She came out of a box of dolls belonging to my Mother and/or her sisters (all born between 1895 and 1908). These dolls were never a part of my family until now. They never belonged to a collector. I now find that the left arm (under the sleeve of the dress) might have been broken at the elbow and repaired rather well many years ago. Photos show evidence of glue. There are also a couple of chips at the hip connection of one leg.
There may be a number on the back of the neck, but I can't make it out.The head swivels; the eyes are identical and fixed - pretty eyes. Each ear lobe has a little hole - as for an earring? On Jun-10-13 at 16:10:33 PDT, seller added the following information:
I keep learning. This doll does have a number on the back of her head, under the edge of the wig. The number is #102. I havealso learned that the doll is called "The Wrestler." I have described the flaws with words and pictures to the very best of myability.
