MADONNA Lovely Vintage Italy Catholic Porcelain Ceramic 8.5" Prof. Pattarino
Lovely Vintage Italy
Professor Eugennio Pattarino
An estate sale find this beautiful Madonna. The figure is 8.5" tall and 6" wide at the base. She is perfection in Italian pottery. The face of the Madonna is very peaceful and expessive with the palest pink lips and blue eyes. A gold aureole - radiance surrounding her head. Her gown is a pale blue and her robe is trimmed in gold with gold detail design. The markings on the bottom are as photographed with Italy being clear as well as 700 and an additional smear marking. There is a small red gold paper sticker with the initals ART. I have sold Lenci and Ronzan Madonna figurines and this Madonna is very similar in look and style although not indicated in marking. The condition is excellent with onlly one flea bite at bottom basee - not seen when standing. The photo's are part of the description as pictures speak a thousand words.....I was recently messaged by a knowledgeable woman in Italy regarding this Madonna giving me the following information....Professor Eugenio Pattarino’s name and his artwork are collected by museums and connoisseurs of fine art all over the world. His studio was located in Florence, close to the famous Old Bridge. He began his operations in 1945, immediately at the end of WWII. Eugenio retired in 1966 and his son, Ranieri, continued the studio. Pattarino died in 1971 but his studio remains open and his students continue to work in his style even today.Several years ago the Arno flooded and his shop was severely damaged. Many of his notes and records were washed away and many of his sculptures and molds were destroyed or damaged. There is no doubt that Pattarino’s work will continue to grow in value as the market experiences a shortage of his works.
