MARUSAN KOSUGE Tin Friction 1951 Cadillac Series 62 Sedan 12" Complete Very Good
PLEASE READCOMPLETE DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY AND VIEW PHOTOS CLOSELY BEFORE offerDING:
For your consideration I am offeringa 12" long tin friction powered 1951 Cadillac Series 62 four door sedan made by Marusan Kosuge ( SAN ) of Japanin the early 1950s. One of the most preeminent tinplate toy cars ever, thebeautiful example shown here is exceptionally clean and invery goodcondition with all parts intact. It has a strong friction motor as well. The originallight blue finish still has a beautifulluster and with the exception of one small ding in the roof there are no other dents or dings. Only a few small chips and for lack of a better term I will call itage wear showing on right front fender and a small area between trunk and right rear fender. It's not bad, just some minor roughness in the paint and really something to be expected on a 60 year old toy. There is also a factory defect under the right rear tail light. This is a common malady with certain SAN Cads, and from my experience it seems to happen more on the blue models made with no license plate. The area is where the metal was joined together and on these cars it often had a rough appearance. On some models such as this one, the metal never fully formed or came apart. Fortunately it is on the back of the car and hard to see. The tail light and bumper are still firmly attached. Chrome trim all shines brilliantly with a few slight dings in rocker panels and some minor corrosion over passenger door. Red finish on tail lights is without wear. It has either been perfectly preserved or expertly refinished at some point. The car is a highly detailed and very realistic toy with intricate authentic hood and trunk emblems.Interior is in excellent condition with incredible detail including separate steering wheel and litho foot rest in rear seat area just like the real car. Original plastic window glass is crystal clear with no cracks, breaks, scratches or shrinkage. Both windows are still firmly attached. Glossy blue basehas just minor age wear. All tabs are intact and base fits tightly against the body. Spiral geared friction motor runs like new; long, strong, and smooth. With exception to wear on tread of left rear drive tire, all the other rubber tires are flawless with no cracks or flat spots. Front wheels are fully steerable in any direction. Correct sombrero style hubcaps with original red center dots look simply awesome. Whitewalls are all pristine. I have tried to be thorough in my description without degrading the car too much because it really is beautiful piece. Although this isnot a perfect car it is still a very clean and complete example that wouldnever the less be an excellent investment grade tinplate toy car.I am offering it here with my usual low, low starting offer and .........as always.
Last photo is of a similar car for reference from The Big Book Of Tin Toy Cars.

I am a collector as well as a dealer, and many times have been chagrined to open a box and find a rare vintage toy broken en route. Not due to postal misuse, but bypoor and insensitivewrapping. Prices are set by size and weight.USPS Priority Mail dimensional weight rates will now apply for certain large packages shipped to select zones within the U.S. Priority Mail can be very expensive with an oversize package, as many of my toys require, thereforefor those larger items I use Parcel Post which is just as safe and almost as fast.
