Marvelous Huge Ultra Rare 1920’s Factory Original 36” Lenci Girl Lr For Sale
I have not had to many Lenci’s over the years and for sure, I have never come across one like this, so I hope someone out there will know who she is. I don’t think she is classified as a Salon Lenci as those were ladies and thro rare, she is just a little girl. She is an outstanding huge, rare, 1930's factory original Lenci character girl. I don’t what her name is of what number or series she is but I do know she is outstanding. She is totally factory original from her hair, cloths, underwear and down to her shoes. Most of the smaller Lenci’s had all felt cloths but the bigger ones like this and the salon Lenci.s had have a combination of felt and organdy. She is 36" tall and was made by the Lenci Doll Factory in the 1920's in Italy. I think she really is in excellent condition as far as her originality and the fact she has no holes, rips or moth holes on her or her cloths. What she does have is what they call shelf dust or soiling and water stains from being packed away for decades. Despite the dirt and stains her face is marvelous and her coloring is great. She has huge blue side glancing eyes that are perfect as are her long lashes, brows and lips. She has a wonderful expression sort of like a pouting little girl and the cutest little pug nose. Her original long mohair wig is super and it the original set of long braids. The blonde color is fabulous but as you can see it is soiled. Her hair is still thick and full with little bangs that frame her face perfectly. I know these dolls and their cloths can be cleaned to look bright and new, but, I would have no idea how, so I’ll leave that to you. She has a longer neck and is jointed at the neck and shoulders. Most of these huge Lenci’s don’t really have joints at the hips, they have I guess you could call it, floppy legs. About 4” from her butt is soft so she can sit beautifully in a chair or on a bed. She has wonderful long arms and her hands are excellent with the Lenci trademark of the 2 middle fingers sewn together and again there are no holes. Her torso and long legs are fabulous and pretty much under her dress, underwear and socks those areas are pretty clean. She is wearing her marvelous, original organdy with felt trim full dress that other then being soiled her dress is perfect. The top is felt with short sleeves then flair’s out to the bottom with row after row of pedals like organdy with matching felt trim all the way around. She has her original teddy with ruffles and her original long pantaloons with 4 row of gathered ruffles that look adorable showing below her dress. She also has her original slip that is perfect and adds to the fullness of this dress. I know these cloths have never been removed before and definitely never been washed and still have that stiff starchy feel. Her long stocking are fabulous and her original matching shoes are excellent and have the original matching felt covered buttons. Pretty much the wear on the front seams of her shoes is the only flaw or damage this outfit has other then the dust and soiling which hopefully can be remedied. Any tags that would have been on her dress or slips are long gone but usually they are also marked Lenci on the bottom of the feet but I have not taken off the shoes and socks, but there is no doubt she is a genuine rare Lenci. This outstanding, ultra rare, huge Lenci character girl would make a dazzling addition to any Lenci collection and a marvelous surprise for that someone special on Christmas morning. This ultra rare, large, factory original 1920’s Lenci character girl I’m told should sell for upwards or $5000.00 if mint, mint but even with the soiling she is worth almost that amount especially if you can clean her but my reserve is less so don't let her get away.
