Up for offer is a 1950s Linemar “MARX” Atomic Reactor with Battery. This set has the original box which is in good condition but does have some discoloration. The top right side of the box has a 1/8” x 5” worn area where an inner flap seam exists and there are two 3/8”x3/8” punctures in the top of the box. One end of the box has a 1/2” x 1-1/4” piece of the artwork missing and one side of the box has a 1” tear which is difficult to see in the photos, but is there. The bottom of the box has one frayed upper edge. Most of these problem areas are visible in the photos. There is a list of instructions for use and safety precautions printed on the side of the box and one of the photos hasonly thisinformation. The reactor is clean with light discoloration on the boiler from heat, and an area of corrosion about 1/8”x1/4” on the battery housing lid. The battery is missing. The battery compartment does not show any rust or discoloration. The accessories - the funnel, measuring cup, fuel tray, fuel can, a small plastic bottle, and the metal drain pan are included with the set. The fuel tray has a small area of corrosion. The drain pan is missing some coating on the arms. The small plastic bottle has a crack in the cap. The fuel can has some corrosion on the top, bottom, and on the lid. The green litho ink on the fuel can has areas of discoloration, as does the measuring cup. The Atomic Reactor itself is very clean and does not appear to have been used often.

Here is a bit of information on the Linemar line. It was a division of the USA based Louis Marx & Co. and was a brand name applied to Marx toys manufactured in Japan. The toys were produced by various Japanese manufacturing companies and were made during the 1950s until approximately 1960.
