Original Medieval Illuminated Manuscript Book of Hours Leaf, Paris, c. 1420-30
Text: MEDIEVAL PRAYER
IM-10643: An original leaf from a medieval illuminated manuscript Book of Hours, with illuminations by a Master of the Boucicaut School. Fifteen lines of red-ruled, Latin text, written with dark brown ink in gothic book-hand script on animal vellum. This leaf measures 127 x 92 mm (5 x 3 11/16”).
This Book of Hours leaf was scribed in Northern France, Paris, c. 1420-30. This is an original, not a reproduction and its condition is excellent, as shown in the photos.
This leaf continues the text of a prayer said at mass.
Provenance: Sotheby's - ex G. Barilla of Geneva, and formerly Frederick Fowler collection (England c. 1820's).
