These are two fragments that are both possibly, but not necessarily, from the same leaf and the text on them is from JOHN CHRYSTOSTOM, OPUS IMPERFECTUM IN MATTHAEUM.

The text that has been identified includes parts of:: -

Some of the text certainly relates to Matthew, Chapter 7 and the “Beatitudes”.

The maximum size of the fragments are 43mm x 178mm (1 7/10ins. x 7ins.) and 41mm x 176mm (1 6/10ins. x 6 9/10ins.).

Please be aware of the condition of this item. What you can see in the pictures is exactly what the winning buyer will receive. The fragments have been used in a binding process, possibly as sewing guards and each has a horizontal crease. The vellum is a little browned on one side but overall they are in good condition and contain interesting text.
