This hand painted animation “Gallery Cel” was only available through the Disney-MGM Studio at Disney World in Orlando during the 1990\'s and it has been retired for well over a decade. The first gallery cel was released by Disney in 1991 and each edition is eventually retired so no more can be made. When Disney~MGM conversted to Disney Hollywood Studios the creation of these cels stopped altogether.
All of the gallery cels we offer date from the early days of this program. The fact that these cels were only created by the Disney artists in the Orlando gallery has enhanced their rarity and obviously the longer the piece has been retired the rarer and more valuable it becomes. This Gallery Cel entitled “Filmstrip Mickey“ features a wonderful image of Mickey climbing a filmstrip as if it were a spiral staircase. This gallery cel was the third one released originallly becoming available in 1993 and retired on May 1, 1999. ~ * ~ * ~ Note: There is a mat, signed by the Disney artists who worked on these cels, and we have just one left. If you search our store for \"gallery cel\", it will show up.
The cel measures 10” x 13” and comes in the original cream-colored mat. This cel is still in the original Disney box (with Mickey logos) it came in. It has never been displayed and we opened the box only once to take the pictures for this listing so this piece comes in brand new, never-been-displayed condition, with all the original paperwork. ~ * ~ * ~
Also included with this listing is a copy of the 2000 brochure from \"The Disney-MGM Studios Animation Gallery and The Ink & Paint Dept.\" The original brochure is a 2-sided 4-panel piece with information on the cels and the artists who painted them. Of the 8 total panels of information only 3 panels fit on a standard size sheet of paper so it took 3 sheets to include all 8 panels. You can see the original brochure in the last two pictures here so the 3 sheets you will receive will look different from what\'s here but it will include exact copies of every panel in the brochure.
Note: We are also offering a custom Disney mat signed by six of the artists who worked on these cels. These special mats were sold by Disney to galleries who placed early orders for the cels. If you search our store for \"gallery cel\" it will show up.
Final note: We owned and operated a licensed animation art gallery, called Cartoon Classics, near Rochester, NY from 1990-2005. At that time we shifted all of our business to and, as our seller record confirms, have been successful sellers for many years now. This past summer we pulled together all of the unsold inventory we had in our animation art archives and have worked on pictures and descriptions to make it all available for interested buyers.
