What a statement this exquisite, Samovar will make at your next elegant dinner party or buffet. This magnificent, silver plated, Samovar manufactured by the Middletown Plate Company, measures approximately 16.25 inches tall, 11 inches wide from handle to handle, 5 inches in diameter at the top opening and 6 inches wide between each foot. This extra large piece gorgeous piece comfortably holds 20, eight ounce cups which is a generous size for today’s entertaining purposes. We filled up the samovar it does not leak, pours freely and turns off easily.

The Aesthetic style samovar is decorated with a striking and stylistic, deeply etched design around the top rim comprised of Peacocks, Butterflies and Dragonflies flitting and sitting amongst leaf and berry covered vines. The front, back and sides have a striking, etched floral and leaf design that ultimately come together and frame an oval medallion on each side. There is no monogram but one can be added if one so desires. Two ornately curved, open work handles decorated in a leaf and berry, garland design provide for ease in lifting and carrying this elegant piece. The samovar rests upon four, open work, scrolled feet decorated in the berry and leaf design. The top of the feet are shaped like a large leaf and are etched with the identical design. The legs support the holder that contains the original burner with burner cover. Each designed area is set against a chased background. The spout attaches to the samovar with an ornately decorated leaf shaped design. The domed cover is topped with a regal looking finial with wreaths placed along its sides.

The silver plated, samovar is in EXCELLENT CONDITION. It has no repairs, flaking or silver wear to note except for two very, very light polishing marks that are barely distinguishable near the spout and one handle. The inside is clean and the outside has a nice shine. The piece bears the hallmark of the Middletown Plate Company founded in 1864, in Middletown, Connecticut. The firm continued in operation until it became part of the International Silver Company in 1899.
