Good Quality Swiss movement for the English speaking marketwith F & S on the cock and having an English ratchet tooth lever escapement.
MINUTE REPEATER HUNTER Pocket Watch Movement.
Winding at the 3 o`clock position so Ideal to case as a large wristwatch or back as it was originally as a pocket watch.Circa 1890Compensation balance with solid gold adjusting screws and Breguet overcoil balance spring.
Screw set ruby jeweling.
The slide lever between 7 & 8 activates the 2 hammers to chime on the gongs and it all works as it should do.
As it is set now in the images it chimes 11 times for the hour, 2 ting tangs for the 2 quarters that have elapsed and 14 tings to show it is 14 minutes past the half hour position. i.e. 11.44.
The watch mechanism is fully wound. The balance is good and swinging but does not want to tick away and I am reluctant to force it.With a decent service I see no reason at all why the watch mechanism would not tick away freely.
I have manually moved the hands to see how it chimes in different positions and it does fine.
It can also be wound with a key on the ratchet from the back which shows that it is fully wound. The hands, with some dexterity , can be changed by placing a key on the back central arbor and turning it also.
When wound with a winding stem at 3 the hand change push is at 4.Good signed Snap on white enamel dial.Looking perfect .With the aid of magnification, there is the smallest slither in the glaze just to the right of the hour hands and very faint Clean hairlines.Overall approx. dial diameter 46mm.
