This is a handsome and traditional piece of equipment
manufactured to rigid U.S. Navy specifications originally set down in the 1929
Hull Standard Plan Drawing and cherished by Navy and commercial divers
throughout the world. It has a 7" stainless steel blade with a brass
handle. The knife screws into the top 1/2" of the polished cast brass
sheath using Acme threads which not only hold it securely in the sheath but
also permit it to be easily and quickly removed. The knife edge not sharp as this is intended for display. The
belt strap is top grain leather. It is as much sought after by collectors for
its unique design and appearance as by divers for its utility underwater.
the most useful tool of all is the US Navy Divers Knife (often erroneously
referred to as a Mark V knife). This knife has a Brass cylindrical sheath, a
threaded hilt which allows the knife to be screwed into the sheath, and a
double edged non sharpened blade. The blade is
Highly Polished Brass. The handle boldly displays the DESCO name.
