MUSEUM QUALITY 18TH C REV WAR PERIOD LEATHER AND WOODEN GENTLEMAN'S WIG POWDERER
Description:
STRAIGHT FROM AN OLD CONNECTICUT REVOLUTIONARY WAR COLLECTION.
A MUSEUM QUALITY 18TH CENTURY WIG POWDERER.
ABSOLUTE PERFECTION. A fantastic 18th century example of a very rare form. American, probably Boston or Philadelphia, Circa 1760-1790.
This is one of the best wig powderer' we have ever seen. It is COMPLETELY ORIGINAL. IT RETAINS ITS ORIGINAL LEATHER BELLOWS AS WELL AS ALL OF ITS ORIGINAL LEATHER STRAPPING. What is even more rare is that it still retains its ORIGINAL TIN NOZZLE AND TIN AND CORK PLUG.
The condition is perfect, every original nail is still intact. The leather is still flexible and in great shape. The tin nozzle and plug are perfect and retain the best old surface. The wooden top and bottom still retain its original surface and again are perfect.
These were used by 18th Century Gentlemen to "powder" their wigs. A "country" version like this is usually associated with an American manufacture and were used by the higher ranking officers of the American Troops.
If you are looking for the BEST example to add to your Revolutionary War Collection or just for your 18th Century setting this piece is for you.
