Up for sale is an Exceptionally Fine Chinese Famille Rose Imperial Boys Scenic Covered Jar. The Jar is a truly superb museum quality example. The Vase has some of the finest hand painted details I have personally seen, a truly astonishing piece. The Jar is also a sign example which I am told reads “lin zhi cheng xiang”, or “The Kylin’s Foot Brings Great Luck”. This is a mark that has been used on choice imperial wares from the later 18th century Chinese Qianlong period up until the very early Chinese Republic period. I will let you determine within this period when the jar would have been produced at the very least it is right around 100 years of age, if not earlier.

I was told a good number of examples with very similar boy scenic designs, and with this same mark are noted as selling through the high end sales, Christie’s and Sotheby’s and have brought well into the thousands, and in some cases even upwards of 10 thousand, and most are much smaller than this example. So it is well worth looking into what the jars value is, I am sure examples like this do not come up for sale very often. The Jar shows some light wear and some small glaze and enamel imperfections throughout including a small original kiln shrinkage line to the inner rim as you can see, which could be restored if one desired. But overall for its age the jar is in fine original condition with no other cracks, chips, or repairs. The Jar is a large size piece and displays beautifully measuring 10 inches wide, by 6 inches tall. The jar is much nicer and most impressive in person that I can take pictures of. A True Museum Quality piece.
