Large "Bird" Vase

Pale ivory coloured bodywith scrolledhandles, reticulated (pierced) collar & neck and heavy, profuse gilding.

Decorated to the front with an unidentified bird (possibly a heron, if the bird flying to the left of the main image is the same species). Long legs, long beak and tufted "ears".

The reverse of the vase is decorated more soberly (see 4th photo)

A large, prominentsculptural piece.

About12 inches (30cms)high, about 8 inches (20 cms) wide and about 6 inches (15 cms) deep.

A previous owner has had the base drilled to use it as a table lamp and a rubber gromit has been fitted (see 6th photo)- unfortunately this has hidden the date letter but I would estimate it as late 1800's.

Otherwise, the vase is in excellent condition - no cracks, chips or restoration.
