Magnificent Antique Chinese Solid Silver Repousse Box Circa Late 1800s:
Magnificent antique Chinese solid silver box. Circa late 1800s.
The silver box is made of high quality solid silver and it is not silver plated.
This fantastic silver box is made in repousse style - the design is hammered from the inside.
On both sides of the box arescenes of a rowof people standing in front of anenclosed wall with houses and trees on the background. Details so wellmade that you can clearly see people's expression on their faces and lines of their flowing robes. Although thescenes are the sameon bothside it isdifferent and obviously made by hand.
On both ends of the box are three figures standing in front of a house and trees. Again thescenes are the same but it is made with some difference. You can see the difference from my photos.
Four sides of the top all have inside hammered motifs of trees and flowers.
There is a clip on top as opener. There are also two silver hinges that anchor the chain.
The box opens on top like a handbag. The chain is also made of solid silver.
This is a magnificent solid silver box that weights over half kilogram of silver.
Silver weight: 640 grams
Measurement : 16 cm x 10 cm x 12.5 cm
'Most of my collection is one of a kind. I bought the items because I liked it for myself. They were never intended to be resold. Each item has a story and when possible I hand carried in my luggage from all over the world to bring back to Australia. Some of the items have travelled a long way away and some of the items has been with me for 65 years. I am now retired and need to downsize. I will not be able to buy a similar item again and definitely not able to sell it at the same price. If you buy an item from me it most likely is the only one I have. Thanks for offerding.'
