Magnificent & Commanding Half Plate Daguerreotype - Full Length Standing Portrait of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Banker Allen Kramer, Likely Taken by Daguerreian William McDonald, Located at the Corner of Wood and Third in Pittsburgh. This Guy Just Looks Like a Banker! Rare Full Length Standing Half Plate w/ Virtually No Flaws; a Cocktail Party Pose!The Image Has Excellent Reflective Depth and a Subtle Range of Tones andHas Been Placed in an Equally Impressive, and Scarce Full Black Leather Book Style Case w/ Ruby Red Velvet Pad. I Acquired the Image w/ Documentation and Research Pieces Which Identify This Stately Gentleman as Allen Kramer - of Kramer & Rahm, Bankers and Exchange Brokers, Located on the Corner of Wood & Third Streets. Included is a Photocopy of a Handwritten Note of Provenance Which Reads; "Kramer and Rahm, Pioneer Bankers of Pittsburgh. This picture is Allen Kramer of said Bank. Picture as far as I know is over 150 years. I have had it 60 years. Maude Rahm." There's a Photocopy of a Full Length Advertisement for Kramer & Rahm. There are Multiple Pittsburgh Directory Pages Copied Which Include Listings for Kramer & Rahm, as well as Kramer and Rahm Individually. The Most Interesting However, is a Listing for Daguerreian Artist William McDonald, Located at the Corner of Wood and Third, the Exact Location of Kramer & Rahm's Business. I Believe it's Quite Plausible to Conclude McDonald was Indeed the Maker of This Fine Full Length Portrait. A Wonderful Piece of Pittsburgh Banking Business History! Condition:Image has been resealed w/ new glass and Filmoplast P90. There are a few small specks in the upper left corner and the focus in his face is ever-so-slightly soft, otherwise magnificent.
