MARIANNE MOORE. Poem signed: "From 'Marriage"/Marianne Moore",10p, 8½x11. Complete text of the poem "Marriage" (1923). Signed on page 10, beneath four excerpted lines of it. File holes at left edge. Slightly creased. Otherwise, fine condition. Accompanied by unsigned philatelic envelope honoring Moore, postmarked Brooklyn, New York, April 18, 1990, 25-cent stamp affixed, FIRST DAY OF ISSUE. Cachet is captioned: "Marianne Moore: Poet famed for concise language and skillful observations of nature. Printed biography on verso. Fine condition. Moore (1887-1972), an innovative modernist poet, saw her first verses published in 1915. She won a 1952 Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award for Collected Poems. Moore, a New York cultural celebrity known for her capes and tricorn hats, learned to drive at age 70 and threw out the first ball at Yankee Stadium in 1968. Two items.
