Marie & Julian Martinez San Ildefonso Pueblo Indian Pottery Bowl New Mexico For Sale
I have for offer an original signed Native American PuebloIndian pottery bowl made by Marie & Julian Martinez. This bowl measures approx. 6 1/2" inches wide & 3 1/4" inches tall. This pottery bowl is a classic black on black style with a polished design created by Marie Martinez. This bowl is in good shape with no chips or cracks. It does have much surface wear or light tinypottery flacking on the lower 2/3 rds of the bowl. There is also scratching on the bottom were the bowl was movedduring the last 75years. This bowl is signed Marie on the bottom & under the scratching are the letters J---an. Do to surface scratching not all of the letters of Julians name are visible. What is definitely visible is the letters J a n. The letters of Marie signature are all clearly visible. This signature of Marie & Julian (Marie's husband) was used from around 1925 until his death in 1945.This bowl definetly is worthy ofbeingrefurbished.I have seen pottery pieces from Marie Martinez sell at thousands of dollars. This wayan avid collectorcan purchase this bowl & have it reasonably restored to better conditions. Thanks for viewing this item !!!
