Marvel Masterworks variant hardcover editions feature the same contents as the regular editions, but with a special cover design and beautiful foil stamping. They match the original run of 27 but had a premium cost. If you didn\'t have the first 27 in variant format, then you might be fine not getting the subsequent variants. But Marvel got response and to this day make the variant cover available to collectors. They run between 1000 and 2000 of these variant editions. I have no idea of the edition size of the first variant prints but I assume that they were under 2,000. The first 27 first prints DO NOT list a total number printed.
In some cases, Marvel has gone back and done a second printing of the variant covers. If the back cover lists the number of books printed, it is a second printing. Most collectors prefer first print books.
THIS IS A FIRST PRINT limited to 1470 copies.Excellent shape. Stored in a smoke-free, pet-free home.I\'ve noticed that on most of the first prints books I have seen, there is slight buckling on the overleaf paper cover proximal to the foil stamping, which is I assume a result of the foil stamping. They still look great but I wanted to note this for collectors.There may be very slight wear from shelf storage. Maybe read once without ever opening the binding all of the way.
I\'ve also seen people selling the softcover versions for more than the price of the hardcover. Don\'t be fooled. Buy the hard cover: they feature better, thicker paper.
