Masonic Ruby Ring 14k White 10k Yellow Gold Kych Emblem Gothic Freemasonry For Sale
Here is a simply extraordinary vintage gold Masonic ring for
the Knight York Cross of Honour or KYCH designation, which requires the
recipient to have presided over a Lodge of Master Masons, Chapter of Royal Arch
Masons, Council of Cryptic Masons, and Commandery of Knights Templar. Ring originally acquired out of an estate years
ago, supposedly from a Mason closely acquainted with late Most Eminent Grand
Master of the Grand Encampment of Knights Templar, G. Wilbur Bell, who presided
1970-1973, but we have no way of confirming this.Descriptive Details:This ring was manufactured by
the famed Gothic jewelry company (now defunct), which we understand specialized
in very high quality and custom-made fraternal jewelry, especially rings. The fine detailing and craftsmanship on the
ring is superb and quite eye-catching, and attracts a great deal of attention when worn (from both Masons and women); the winning
buyer should be prepared to be noticed whenever he is wearing it.Size 13-1/4 (US), with “comfort
fit” band, and counter-weighted protrusion along lower edge of band to inhibit
rotation on finger, a convenient feature we have rarely seen on Masonic rings. Marked “14K 10K” and “GOTHIC” on back inside face (see
photos). Inscribed “CMD to CKD 4-1-73 on
inner left side of band (see photos), still very legible. Inset skull & crossbones figure measures 3/8”
(10mm) tall x 5/16” (7mm) wide; made of sterling silver and was likely added by
owner at a later period. Ring overall measures
1” (25mm) across x 1-1/8” (28mm) tall x 5/8” (17mm) wide on front face); weighs
0.35 ounces (10.0 grams). Solid feel, has
a good heft to it.Lightly worn, clean with gleaming
patina. All the extremely fine enamel
detailing on the side emblems is intact and colorful with no flaking or cracks
discernible. The Past High Priest emblem
is quite nice and amazingly has a proper color for each tribe. The Past Master emblem below it includes both the
square and radius, in addition to the compasses. The Commandery emblem is surrounded by letters
E-P-C (or P-E-C, depending on your
jurisdiction’s protocol) and below that is a broken triangle (delta), and an omega
symbol with sword through it – note this is NOT a Shrine scimitar, just a curvy
sword. Emblems & face seem to be 14K
white gold, band is 10K yellow gold; four finely detailed emblems along crown
on top face are still visible.The gemstone is nicely faceted
and firmly set, and seems to be a reddish-purple, possibly either a ruby or
amethyst (you be the judge), measuring .12” (3.5mm) or 0.15 carat. Interesting feature (no doubt a coincidence)
is when a laser is shined through the facets, points of light cast a crown-like
image, making for a most impressive and fascinating special effect in low light
