Luke Henderson was awarded the MM London Gazette 12 December 1917 he came from Gateshead, Tyne & Wear, also entitled to the British War & Victory Medals. Almost certainly an award for the Battle of the Menin Road Ridge, Passchendaele 20 to 25 September 1917, on 20 September 1917 the 41st Division attacked at 0540 with two Brigades plus one in close support, a fairly successful day with nearly all objectives taken by 2000 the Germans were seen massing for a counter attack but this was dispersed by small arms fire. 123rd Brigade of this Division attacked the following day and secured its objectives, waves of German Infantry counter attacked but were dispersed by Artillery and small arms fire on 23 September the 41st Division were relieved by 39th Division.
