George Adams Co. C of Michael H. Chevallie's/Lane's Battalion of Texas Mounted Volunteers commanded by Col. Jack Hays. In his pension papers it said he served as a Ranger in Col. Jack Hays Regiment of Texas Volunteer Cavalry. Also states he was employed in Scouting. Comes with a book "PORTRAIT & BIOGRAPHICAL OF WELL KNOWN CITIZENS OF WESTERN OREGON" Reprint of 1904 Edition. Which includes Thomas Chavner's biographical record - pages 201-202. Emigrated to American 1820 from Ireland.1. Served as Cabin Boy Mississippi on General Albert Pike.2. Member of the company Sublett & Campbell American Fur Co.3. Employed by Thomas & Craig Traders Brown's Hole, Green River.4. Met with Kit Carson, Baptiste Cheults, Lewis Anderson, etc.5. Trader with Arapahoes, Sioux & Cheyenne.6. Mr. Chavner met with Gen. Fremont and recommended Kit Carson as Guide.7. During Treaty with Comanche Indians he was interrupter because he learned to speak their language8. Founder of Gold Hill, Oregon.9. Comes with CD containing 27 pages of pension papers.
