OFFICIAL RECEIPT DATED SEPT 8, 1862 AT ACULTZINGO, VERACRUZ FOR A 5 PESO EXPENSE. DOCUMENT IS FROM EJERCITO DE ORIENTE (EasterN ARMY) SIGNED LASTLY BY IGNACIO "ZARAGOZA", THE GENERAL WHO DROVE BACK THE FRENCH FORCES AT PUEBLA ON MAY 5, 1862 KNOWN AS THE HOLIDAY "CINCO DE MAYO"

A Military Document from the Commanding General of Forces in Veracruz, Ignacio Zaragoza, the General who drove out the invading French forces on "Cinco de Mayo" 1862 and became a hero.In this document he is approving a 5 Peso expense!!! The place it was issued was Acultzingo, Veracruz which is just across the State line from PUEBLA where the Cinco de Mayo Battle occurred six months earlier so I guess he had the area well under control.

Condition of the document is excellent with five light vertical folds, size is 8-1/4" by 4-1/4", paper is not watermarked. Zaragoza's signature at bottom center is quite strong.
