Michelangelo's Night And Day/nice Circa 1920 Armor Bronze Clad Antique Bookends:
You are offerding on a set of antique bookends that are allegorical representations of Night (the woman) and Day (the man) that are taken from marble sculptures by Michaelangelo created for the tomb of Guiliano de Medici of Florence, Italy around 1725. They are bronze clad bookends that were manufactured by the Armor Bronze company around 1920. The base measures 6.5 x 3.25-inches in size and the height is 6 5/8-inches. There is a manufacturer's mark along the bottom edge. The Night bookend weighs 63.4 ounces and the Day one weighs 64.7 ounces. See photos for more details.
These antique bookends are in very good condition. Damage is limited to five small edge bumps: one to the end of the toes on each bookend (to the foot on the ground); one near the front corner on Day; one just below the left buttock of Night; and the largest one is to the rear top corner on Day (seen in last photo). There are no cracks or missing parts. The finish remains in very good condition. Overall, a very nice set.
