Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck original painting from what looks like U.S. engineers prior to D-Day on the south coast of England. With a very evocative painting of Mickey as an officer telling Donald to dig a hole \'right there\' (as it were) with a play on the holes of the bagatelle board upon which they sit. Not much used - presumably as they left for France - as the game might not have much use on the front line. the wood is dry and has print on the back suggesting it made from waste crates. And made very well - the pick which Donald is using is also shown on the emblem of the regiment.21 by 14 inches made with a veneer of ply over planks. The edge screwed to the solid base.Evocative. Description Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck original painting from what looks like U.S. engineers prior to D-Day on the south coast of England. With a very evocative painting of Mickey as an officer telling Donald to dig a hole \'right there\' (as it were) with a play on the holes of the pinball board upon which they sit. the painting well done in oil type paint. Not much used - presumably as they left for France - as the game might not have much use on the front line. The wood has aged dry and has print on the back suggesting it made from recycled or waste crates. And made very well - the pick which Donald is using is also shown on the emblem of the Engineers regiment (together with a gun - build & fight ). Donald and Mickey both look to have cap badges - Donald looks to have an S or 8 or B and Mickey\'s is worn off more.
21 by 14 inches made with a veneer of ply or thin plank over thicker planks. The edge screwed all around to the solid base with what looks like brass dome head screws.
A very evocative artifact and of great interest to Disney collectors and makes a nice sized impressive and unique display. probably wants more cleaning, there might be some more writing underneath waht I\'m not sure is paint or aged varnish but one of the pins / screws in the bottom edge is loose and it might fall off.
