Serial number 75049 indicates this clock was manufactured in the 1950s. Measures 8.25\"W x 9.25\"H x 6.25\"D. Not currently working. I do not know if it works, as I am not the original owner and it has not worked since I purchased it. I\'ve just had it sitting in my office for the past year, intending to take it to a clock repair place.
The face, which is gold with gold numerals and hour markers, reads \"Gubelin\" under the 12 at the top, and \"Swiss\" under the 6 at the bottom.One of the most interesting things about this beautiful piece is that it is engraved at the bottom on both sides, as well as on the front:
Left side engraving: CHANCE OF LIFETIME 1954Right side engraving: FRED AND EMILY HENRY
There is a narrow plate at the bottom with a screw on one side and a pin on the other. When removed, it reveals the front of the base of the clock is engraved \"The Franklin Life Insurance Company.\"Chance of a Lifetime was a competitive talent show that aired in the 1950s. My guess is this was some sort of prize (maybe sponsored by The Franklin Life Insurance Company), but I have no way of confirming. I have researched online, but there is little information. Perhaps it was a gift from The Franklin Life Insurance Company to Fred and Emily. Maybe somebody out there knows...
