Mid Century Pal-bell Maurice Ascalon Design Brass Dish Stunning Verdigris Mint:
Gorgeous color! This is a lovely covered dish manufactured by Pal-Bell Co. Ltd. ca 1950's. Designed by Israeli designer and sculptor Maurice Ascalon (1913-2003). Ascalon is known as the "Father" of Israel's Modern Decorative Movement. He was Pal-Bell's chief designer and introduced the use of a green patina to Israel's modern craft industry.... this green patina style became a hallmark of 20th century Israeli metal ware. The application of reactive chemicals to raw bronze and brass gave the distinctive and unique verdigris patina. This lovely lidded conical form is made of brass... wonderfully decorated with a simple modern design of repousse...seated on a heavy brass an black enamel base. It stands apprx. 7.50" tall and is 6" round at the top. Signed on the inside of the base... also presented in a Pa-Bell catalogue page...Pal-Bell.com. Dare I say... in perfect condition!
