A camera that fit in the palm of your hand was an idea the sprung from Walter Zapp’s head in the prewar days of Germany. Even in the camera design epicenter of the world, Wetzlar Germany, the notion was farfetched at the very least, most called it crazy. Yet Walter Zapp was not swayed. By re-writing the rules of camera design and creating many brilliant mechanical and optical technologies, his idea came to life. The Minox ultra miniature camera was way ahead of its time and would not be fully understood until after the war. With persistence and dedication Zapp marketed his miniature camera worldwide. At first most photographers doubted its ability, convinced that a camera of such diminutive size surely could not perform. But the results proved quite different. Amazingly the Minox produced image quality startlingly clear with a corner-to-corner clarity unrivaled by any camera or format. Over the years the Minox underwent updates and improvements, although it tremendous quality and ability was never lost.

The Minox B subminiature camera is by far the most popular mini camera of all time. It was introduced in 1958 with a production run until 1972. It was the first Minox to contain a built-in light meter. The “B” produces outstanding image quality with the distinct clarity resultant of the Minox design. The Model B has been described as indestructible, its amazing design and no-skimp build quality lends to this.
