Mobile, Al Mardi Gras Souvenir Thimble:
An extremely rare,beautiful 10 karat gold thimble (marked), given as a favor at the Spinsters Society Mardi Gras ball, in Mobile, AL, probably around 1920. Founded in 1910, the Spinsters were made up of unmarried women of Mobile, Alabama, although they changed that rule later so that married ladies could remain a part of the group. This piece is inscribed with the member's initials; full provenance given upon winning offer. This piece is from the prominent Toulmin family.
