Vintage Red French Tin Box with Asian Scene - Moench

This beautiful vintage French tin box has an Asian theme on the lid, and fabulous stylized Art Nouveau/Art Deco design motifs around the base. The color is sort of a Chinese-red, as it has a hint of orange to it. Branding on the upper base where lid fits over at front indicates a French company called E. Moench in Nancy. The tin appears to date to circa 1920, although the color of the metal on the inside and on the bottom makes me question that slightly. So not 100% sure on dating.

CONDITION:

The vintage wear and patina includes some small areas of wear, some small scratches and scuffs, some handling marks and normal vintage soiling, some minor dents and dings, etc.

Additional condition issues of note:

· Some noticeable patina and soiling on lid at edges, especially on both ends.

· Noticed a couple larger scratches on lid, the larger one seems more noticeable in the right light.

· Light-ish patina on inside and bottom.

· A few tiny early rust spots starting here and there.

· Hinge is well attached and moves freely.

· Tin opens and closes fine.

Approximate size of tin is about 10.5” by 3.75” by about 2.5” tall.

The tin is empty.
