Description: Peter the Pig is a highly desirable piece of Moorcroft. Made in 1990 it is fairly modern but still very collectible, especially because it was limited to a production of only 500 pieces.This is a wonderful piece of Moorcroft, it makes a real statement.
Peter the Pig is based on a design by Wemyss it was modeled by Roger Michell and decorated by Sally Tuffin.
This figure fits in so many categories it really has a lot going for it. There are people who collect farm animals, people who collect just pigs, Moorcroft collectors as well as people who collect only Sally Tuffin pieces.
This Pig is not only a great piece of modern art pottery but will be a great investment, as long as you take care of it, the value is only going to increase as perfect pieces become harder to find. I have already seen a couple of these with restoration so this is a great opportunity for any serious collector to take advantage of this perfect example.
Condition: This figure is in perfect condition. There is some crazing as you get with all Moorcroft but the crazing is mostly visible on the white, this is to be expected as white glaze is always more susceptible to crazing.
Marks: There is the normal impressed "Moorcorft made in England" as well as an impressed arrow which is the year cypher for 1990 plus another mark which looks like AZ (see pictures), i do not know which issue number this is of the 500 that were made but I have seen one with a 1993 mark so I would guess this is an earlier piece.
Size: Measures 11.5" or 28cm long x 6" or 15cm high.

Correction. This figure was designed by Sally Tuffin, the initials on the base are the decorators. It is decorated in Sally's popular Temptation pattern. Peter the pig was a special commission for Liberty & Co. in the late 80's and early 90's.
