years of our collecting, visiting Asian countries, attending sales, reading
periodicals, and descriptions of Chinese art, we have never seen a Scholar’s
Stone as beautifully equipped for meditation as this one. Surely the scholar
who enjoyed this fine natural piece of art placed on his desk in his working
studio was able to achieve considerable peace from gazing upon it. It is said
that God can be found in nature and whoever in a time long past discovered this
stone found a spiritual wonder. In examining the photos we have provided we
show both the front and the back of the stone but since they are both equally
awe striking you will have to look them over again and again to be able to
realize the differences between the face and verso or decide which it is since
they are both beautifully ensconced in the elegantly fitting stand into which the
stone fits and is displayed.
scene you will notice immediately is a roiling sea viewed from the rock
formations at the shore. Layer upon layer of writhing seas, as they move and
sway in and out of the shore, are foaming in an array of natural color that
reflects the mystery of the scenes buried deeply in the ocean’s depth.
often remarked that every square inch of this truly gem like stone is a piece of
art. . . all different in and of itself. Obviously it has affected our visitors
dramatically since they have difficulty tearing their eyes away from it and
discussing anything but how they feel in watching the seemingly never-ending
movement in this picture stone.
the photographs, due to lighting problems, vary. But we wish to inform you that
probably the lighter photos are the truer in coloration.

Due to our
retirement, we offer up this piece of magnificent art, a gem of a stone that many
people beside ourselves will value far more than diamonds, rubies, and pearls.
