Nice English Napoleonic Officer Sword Saber P1803:
This is a lovely example of a Napoleonic Era British Officer's Sword Saber P1803 that was manufactured by "OSBORN & GUNBY'S". It is mounted with a impressively large, curved blade that measures 30 1/2 inches in length. The blade has survived well and although is stained with light surface oxidation at the extreme tip, it does remain in very good condition with some of the original gold and blue still present. The fabulous guard wears an attentive, vigilant lion head as the pommel along with an intricately detailed stirrup guard that features the cypher of King George. Traces of the original bright gold wash are still present on the guard fittings, enhancing the pretty detailing. The carved horn hilt has a pronounced chip just beneath the pommel, otherwise remains healthy and tight and with the original twisted wire wrap still securely in place. Overall measuring 35 1/8 inches in length. The scabbard is long gone. (please note other items shown as props are not included in this sale)
