DESCRIPTION: xxiii, 400 pages,  leaves of plates : illustrations ; 27 cm. SCARCE in the DELUXE EDITION.NOTES on THE TITLE: More commonly available in a later cloth edition. This quarter vellum deluxe edition with hand-made paper includes hand-colored plates and tissues printed in descriptive letterpress. Each plate (except, I think, the frontispiece) is provided in black only, as printed, and a colored plate - two versions of each plate, both under tissues. Paper is heavy, mold-made rag paper, left untrimmed on two edges (though no pages are unopened). A giant book incorporating hundreds of details about the English countryside so entwined with the sporting pleasures of the well bred and energetic - both man and horse. Geographically arranged and written from the perspective of an early 19th century eyewitness to the hunt.
CONDITION NOTES: Near FINE. Full caps, sharp tips. Spine clean and bright with minimal soiling. Covers clean without more than very faint soiling. Toning in pastedowns, else FINE. Pages pristine. Bookseller's penciling on front pastedown.BINDING: Quarter vellum over blue paper boards. Head edge gilt, other edges untrimmed. .
