NIPPON HAND PAINTED 17 PC GOLD EMBELLISHED PORCELAIN TEA SET
This listing is for a 17 pc Nippon hand painted tea set. The set consists of a tea pot, creamer, covered sugar bowl and six cups and saucers. The teapot measures 5 inches or 12.7 cm high and 8 inches or 20.3 cm from handle to spout. The creamer measures 3 1/2 inches or 8.9 cm high and 4 1/2 inches or 11.4 cm from handle to spout. The sugar bowl measures 5 inches or 12.7 cm high and 5 inches of 12.7 cm across the handles. The cups measure 2 1/4 inches or 6.1 cm high and 3 3/4 inches or 9.5 cm in diameter. The saucers measure 5 3/8 inches or 13.7 cm in diameter.
The set is hand painted with beautiful landscapes with houses and bodies of water with boats. This decoration is against a white background and further embellished with raised gilt flowers and raised beading. The pieces all have a raised foot design which makes the set very elegant.
The undersides are marked with a Hant Painted Nippon mark around a Japanese pagoda. Some of the pieces have an old red and white label on the bottom with numbers on them. I believe this set dates to the 1940's or 1950's.
The set is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. There is no gold wear. Again, please see the many photos for more on the look and condition.
