From the dust jacket: \"The inadequacy of John W. Moore\'s Roster of Norther Carolina Troops in the War between the States, published in 1882, has long bee recognized. Accordingly, the North Carolina Confederate Centennial Commission adopted as its most ambitious project the compilation and publication of a new roster. Upon the termination of the commission in 1965 the project was transferred to the State Department of Archives and History (now the Office of ARchives and History of the Department of Cutlrual Resoruces). This volume is the fifteenth in a projected eighteen-volume series covering all branches of Civil War service by North Carolinians.
