Since the designer designed andmanufactured the item we feel they have better knowledge of the itemsmeasurements. The DESIGNERS typically use the LONGEST measurement as theLENGTH. Same goes for HEIGHT and DEBTH

THE DEPTH is measured by looking at the side of the handbagand measuring the widest area from left to right
