Fantastic Civil War era family photo album

Full! Contains 50 Cartes de Visite photos.

Rareimages, including:

Circa ~ 1850s -1860s.

Description: Full leather with blind and tooled design. Gilt decoration to outer edges. Decorative brass, strap-type closers on both sides. All edges gilt. Floral patterned end papers in blue, white and gold. Gilt borders to album pages.

The albumis full - In fact there were more CDV's than album pages which is why I am selling a couple of them separately: a portrait of Abraham Lincoln and a CDV taken by a photographer from the 1867 Paris Exposition.

Size:6 x 43/4 x 23/4".

Condition:

ALBUM: The album is in rough shape. Both covers are detached. Several pieces of leather missing from spine area. One of the clasps is missing the strap closer. A couple of breaks in the binding. Inside pages are lightly age-toned. A few scattered spots and stains.

Outside: Poor. Inside:Good.

CDV's: A few show light foxing and other stains. The majority remain sharp and clear. Very Good+.

4. Portrait of teenage boy in suit and dark tie. Circa 1864. On back: 2 Cent orange Internal Revenue Stamp with intact perforated border and handwritten cancellation mark (R4?). Photo by POPE, Washington Hall, NEWBURGH, N. Y. "Duplicates can be had if desired."
5. Portrait of middle-aged woman with dark hair in bun and bow on dress. Stamped at bottom: A. F. WELLS, Silver Creek, N. Y.
6. Portrait of middle-aged man with thinning gray hair and dark bow tie. Handwritten on back: Taken Dec 7th 1863. Age 57yrs & 3 Months.

    Note: I was not able to positively identify the people in this album. However, it was acquired locally from the Shelden/Marvin family estate.The family was very prominent in Chautauqua County. There were Marvins living in Newburgh as well.
