Nakaya Portable Writer Fountain Pen In Aka-tamenuri Red Medium For Sale
This pen is mint in the box. It is the Nakaya Portable Writer in aka-tamenuri with a medium nib from nibs.com. I am also including a Maple Leaf Maki-e Converter because I think it goes well with this pen. I bought this from Nibs.com in Dec 2012 and used it once. I originally ordered it with amedium stub but I had it changed out to a standard medium nib which is like a western fine. Pen is like new.If simplicity is the highest form of elegance, this is it. As unadorned as this pen is, it achieves greatness by virtue of its materials, surface and color. Shown here is the Portable size Cigar (No Clip) in Aka-tamenuri (Reddish-Red) and below this is the Writer (With Clip). The Urushi tradition is historic and profound in Japan, where lacquer ware has adorned utilitarian objects for centuries. This technique, though painstaking, gives this fountain pens its deep lustrous sheen and subtle color shift. This Nakaya fountain pen is made of hard rubber or ebonite that is meticulously coated with Urushi, a material made from the sap of a Japanese lacquer tree. The process of collecting the Urushi and applying many layers of lacquer to this fountain pen takes three months to complete. I will be selling a number of other fine pens in my collection so please have a look. Most are new or used once.
