This is a very nice Nakayama Maruka stone with Hatahoshi stamp. In a very rare dark forest green stone. The slurry is almost a olive drab in my opinion. If you notice the darker little blotches they are a very sought after type of translucent karasu pattern that when the stone is tilted from side to side in a reflective light there is a pearl effect. Hence the super cutting ability. Please Note All The Pictures. As the pics show this stone no longer has the stamping on it. This is a used stone. I usually will post the original pictures of the stones when they were new to prove what kind of stone it is. On this stone I no longer have the pictures. Also the sides have been sealed with traditional japanese laquer. This stone is an heirloom quality stone but please use it. It is a dream to use silky smooth not grabby at all like some stones can be. A little dish soap in the water usually fixes that problem by the way. You will not need any of that with this stone, pure water and a little slurry and it will put the finest edge on planes or razors. The back you can see the progression of the mineral line thru the stone which can be felt with a fingernail on the back. I think this will disappear with some slight lapping if you wanted a 100% double sided stone. The line from the front side is as buttery smooth as the rest of the stone so non toxic. I would consider this stone a pure stone as i have not encountered any hard little inclusions as can be encountered on lesser quality stones. It measures 8\" long 3\" wide and 1 1/2\" thick A nice beefy heavy stone. As some indication of the density it is a 5 to 5plus. This stone and the other nakayama stone I have listed as green in the description are extremely unique stones in their cutting ability they are fast but extremely smooth and are just as suitable for razors as the finest tools. I will list this stone at 50% off what i paid for lack of proof of stamping. A great chance to own a super quality collector grade stone.
