National Wwii Museum Clock/desk Set 1/5000 Western Ammunition/winchester Ca 2000:
Beautifully made desk set of a mahogany stained wood with a gold metal world time clock between pillars and a gold ink pen. It was made as part of an effort to raise funds for the National World War II Museum located in New Orleans, LA which opened on the anniversary of D-Day in 2000. Having been there, I can tell you it is a fabulous museum and well deserving of both a visit and funding! The clock is one of only 5000 that were made by the Western Cartridge Company which owns Winchester Rifle Cartridges. The profits from these clocks was donated to the National World War II Museum by Western.
The clock runs by battery and seems to be keeping time fine. The clock itself is marked, "Chass". It is about 7.5 inches tall, 4 inches deep and about 10 inches wide. Western is engraved in the wood on top of the set and also on the bottom. The bottom additionally has the words, "Ammunition for Democracy, 1941 In Memoriam 1945" engraved. The logo for the National World War II Museum is printed onto the plexiglass into which the clock has been placed. Very attractive and a wonderful salute to both the veterans of World War II and the museum which now honors them.
