Native American Yellow Cedar Moon Mask Northwest Coast Indian 11" Diameter :
This is a hand-carved and hand-painted Yellow Cedar Canadian First Nations mask by established Tahltan artist Vern Etzerza. The mask measures 11 1/2" x 10 1/2" x 3" and is signed on the inside. The 'Moon' is a maternal symbol associated with healing and renewal amongst the Tahltan. Vern has been carving since 1982 specializing in sun and moon masks. Vern works mostly in Kwakwaka'wakw and Tlingit styles. He was taught by Gene Brabant and has also worked with Beau Dick. His influences include Tony Hunt, Jr. and Stan Hunt.
