So many customers wanted our figureheads in custom colors, we thought why not offer and unpainted version. These are great for artisans wanting to create their own masterpiece. This piece is all primed and ready for painting. Primer coat will accept both interior and exteriorpaints and stains. The figurehead is made of polyurethane molding foam. They are rigid, but lightweight, same as our painted line.
This is an antique reproduction of an actual figurehead from the Clipper ship Jenny Lind. Made by NORTH COAST GALLERY CLASSICS, Port Clinton, Ohio. North Coast Gallery Classics is one of only two companies that make these figureheads. Originally made by Nettle Creek Industries, the figurehead line was reincarnated in 1993 after being out of production for over twenty years. We have had our figureheads featured on the TV shows Trading Spaces Kids, One Tree Hill, andTwentieth Century Fox's The Finder.Two Jenny Lind figureheads are hanging in one of Disney's new restaurants in Orlando, Florida.Some are features at the Colonial American Exhibit at Universal Studios, Japan. We recently supplied the City of Salem, Massachusettswith unpainted Jenny Lind Figureheads for their Salem Beautification project. One of our Britannia figureheads was seen on a recent episode of Pawn Stars mounted on the front of a shipfloat.
The original was carved in Salem for the Clipper ship named for the popular Swedish Nightingale. The figurehead is 33 inches high, made of lightweight polyurethane molding foam. It has very realistic details and looks like old wood. Perfect decoration for a restaurant, rec room or cottage by the lake. Use a paint brush or air brush. Let your imagination go!! Go to your local crafts store and look at all the finishes they offer. Painting your own masterpiece is easy, with so many different ideas for finishes. For example, crackles, bronze with a green patina, pearlescence colors, gold leaf, aging techniques, etc...the list goes on. Here's a chance to create a family heirloom.
