Navajo Weaving, Chiefs Blanket, Rug, Late 19th Century, Early 20th Century. For Sale
This is an excellent condition rug, in the pattern of a Chiefs Blanket. Late in the 19th Century the Reservation Indians were encouraged to makethis patern for the Tourist trade. Along with the jewelry they made, this provide them with a source of income. This rug is an irregular shape so my measurements are approximate, 57 by 62 inches.I don't see any stain'sand the colors are bright. The early dies are quite distinctive from the dies in the more modern weaving. The lazy lines are there but hard to see in my pictures. Also, the blue appears to be black....Thanks For Lookin',
